Cyclone Bulbul, which rose in the Bay of Bengal, hit the coast of West Bengal late Saturday. Seven people have died so far due to the strong winds in the coastal areas of West Bengal. While 4.6 lakh people are affected by it. Apart from this, two people have died due to the storm in Odisha. After West Bengal, Bulbul storm reached Bangladesh. There the storm caused great devastation. 10 people have died in Bangladesh due to the storm. 21 lakh people have been evacuated. Winds are moving at a speed of 120 kmph. Relief and rescue teams are also ready in storm affected areas in Bengal.

Apart from this, operations at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Etikatan Kolkata were suspended from 6 pm on Saturday for the next 12 hours. Due to this storm, Kolkata and six nearby coastal districts have been receiving heavy rains with strong winds since Friday. In view of the cyclone of the storm, the tourist centers located in the coastal areas of the state were evacuated from the tourists by Friday evening. Mamta Banerjee visited the control room on Saturday to take stock of preparations for relief and rescue operations.
