Four Indian boxers including Amit Panghal have reached the quarter-finals of the World Championship. Apart from Panghal 52 kg, Manish Kaushik 63 kg, Kavinder Singh Bisht 57 kg and Sanjeet 91 kg have also entered the final-8 with a win.
Panghal is playing for the second time in the World Championship while Kaushik and Sanjeet are playing in the first World Championship.
Panghal defeated Baatuhan Seifki of Turkey 5–0. At the same time, Kaushik defeated the fourth seed Mongolia’s Chinjorig Batarsukh. At the same time, Sanjeet made a big upset by defeating second seed Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov 3-2. Kavinderne defeated Arslan Khatiev of Finland 3–2. Panghal is playing for the second time in the World Championship while Kaushik and Sanjeet are playing in the first World Championship. Second seed Panghal will now face Carlo Palam of the Philippines. Palam defeated Jo Seohyong of Korea. Phanghal was defeated in the quarter-finals of the 2017 World Championship. Apart from this, Kaushik will now face Vandersan de Oliveira of Brazil.
