Sri Lanka’s newly elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will visit India on 29 November. This will be his first visit to India after becoming President. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Gotabaya to congratulate him on the victory and invited him to come to India. President Gotabaya accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India.Gotabaya Rajapaksa was sworn in as the country’s 7th working president on Monday. Rajapaksa, the candidate of Sri Lanka’s Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party, won the presidential election and was declared president on Sunday. Gotabaya won 16 of the 25 administrative districts – Kalutara, Gaul, Matara, Hambantota, Monargala, Ratnapura, Badulla, Kurungla, Puttalam, Gampaha, Kandy, Matale, Polonnaruwa, Colombo, Kegel and Anuradhapura.
