At least 17 people have died in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul in the last one week due to severe air pollution.
The city of Kabul ranks in the list of the most polluted cities in the world and in view of the condition of the people, the National Environmental Protection Agency has started an anti-pollution campaign in collaboration with the Kabul Municipal Corporation and the Ministry of Home Affairs. It states that agencies and business centers which do not follow appropriate standards can be closed. People use low quality fuel to heat rooms and offices to avoid frost in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan and this is also a major cause of respiratory diseases.
