Australia has added aggressive batsman D Archie Short to the India tour next month. Short has been included in the Australian team in place of injured fast bowler Sean Abbott. Abbott will be out of the team for almost a month due to a muscle strain in the Big Bash League. That is why Archie got a place in the 14-man squad. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson are also included in the Australian team. So the selectors replaced top-order batsman Archie in place of fast bowler Abbott. The reason for this is that Archie is a leg-spinner.
Australia has added aggressive batsman D Archie Short to the India tour next month.
Convenor of the selection committee Trevor Hawns said that Abbott’s exit was disappointing. Abbott is in the limited-overs squad for our ICC T20 World Cup and One-Day World Cup plans. He said that with Archie in the team, we will have the option of another spin all-rounder with Ashton Egger. Apart from these two, the presence of four world-class fast bowlers and spinner Adam Jampa has made the team very well balanced. Archie can bat in any order. The Australian team’s Indian tour will begin with the first ODI in Mumbai on 14 January. The second ODI will be played on January 17 in Rajkot and the third one-day on January 19 in Bengaluru.
