The standoff between the US and Iran is still intact. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that unless the United States ‘does not behave in general’, nothing will be discussed with it. Earlier, External Affairs Minister Mike Pompeo had said that the United States was ready to negotiate with Iran without any pre-condition. Rouhani said in a speech on the TV, “The party who left the conversation table, the party who ruined the agreement should first return to normal behaviour.” The President said, if the enemy thinks that the path he chose was wrong, then the day of sitting at the negotiating table and resolving any issue would be the same. Tensions have increased between the US and Iran in recent weeks. The United States got out of the historic nuclear deal last year and imposed an active ban on the Islamic Republic. Pompeo showed softness in the US stand on Sunday, that we are preparing to negotiate without any pre-condition. Pompeo said in Switzerland, Washington is ready to talk when Iranians prove that they are acting as a strong nation. He did not give any indication about whether the issue would include a ban to ban the ban.
