The Congress has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers of making contradictory statements against each other on the issue of National Citizenship Register (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) and fooling the people of the country. Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that Home Minister Amit Shah says that there is no connection between National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). Subsequently, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the data of NPR can be used for NRC.
