South African President Cyril Ramphosa has added two Indian-origin leaders and 50 percent women in his new ministry. In this way, here, the government has become one of the few countries in the world in terms of gender equality. Ramphosa has reduced the number of Cabinet Ministers from 36 to 28. Given the concern over the allegations of corruption in several ministers in the last administration, Ramphosa did not make most tainted leaders as ministers but maintained some. Two ministers of Indian origin Pravin Govardhan and Ibrahim Patel have been included in their cabinet. New ministers have half women; in this way, the South African government has become one of the gender equality governments in the world.
He won the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party with a majority of 57.5 percent in the elections held earlier this month. Ramphosa, who was found guilty of corruption after being deposed last year, was elevated to the post of President and he had increased the number of ministers. Announcing the appointment of these ministers, Ramphosa (66) said, “If we want to make this mandate effective, then we will need a competent, effective and government working with ethics.” His announcement was broadcast on television at the national level.
