Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is caught in a situation of paralysis. It is not yet clear whether the BJP high command has authorized Fadnavis for a deal with the Shiv Sena or whether he is trying to save his own position. In fact, nearly 10 days have passed since the election results in Maharashtra, but no consensus has been reached between the BJP and Shiv Sena about government formation. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is constantly saying that the BJP had talked about 50-50 formulas before the elections i.e. two and a half years old CM. On the other hand BJP chief Amit Shah is still silent on this issue. Till now, only Devendra Fadnavis from BJP has responded to Shiv Sena. Till now, Fadnavis has stuck to his intentions. He has been indicating that his statements also have the support of Delhi. However, November 8 is the last date for government formation in the state and if the government is not formed by then, then it will be indicated that they will be left alone.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is caught in a situation of paralysis.
A day after the election results, a young BJP leader was asked what is your future plan. The reply of that leader had indicated that there has been a change in the position of Fadnavis with BJP getting 105 instead of 130 to 140 seats. The young leader had said, “I am in a position to go to Nagpur or Pune.” Nagpur is the home district of Devendra Fadnavis, while State Chief of BJP Chandrakant Patil hails from Pune. Patil is considered the biggest challenger of Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis had given the slogan of ‘Punha Meech’ during campaigning, which means I am again. Due to this Modi style campaign, he was seen as isolated in the campaign. The result was less than anticipated and they did not have friends who could deal with the Shiv Sena. Not only this, he is not getting the expected support from Delhi and at the moment he is seen standing alone.
There was a time when Devendra Fadnavis was being counted among the most successful chief ministers of the BJP. But the way he worked while in power, he alone in political path. After becoming CM on 31 October 2014, he tried to run the government through bureaucrats. Most of the decisions of the cabinet were made from his office. This led to a lobby against him within the party. Eknath Khadse was forced to resign as soon as the land scam was named. After this, medical education and then other important ministries were withdrawn even before Vinod Tawde. Apart from this, the government also did not support Pankaja Munde on the name of Chikki scam.
