Landslides have occurred in many places due to heavy rains in Belagavi, Karnataka. Traffic has been affected due to heavy rock fall at many places on the Belagavi-Goa road. After heavy rains in the catchment area of the Krishna River, many areas of North Karnataka have again become flood prone.
The area was flooded about a month ago. Krishna and its tributaries like Malaprabha, Ghatprabha, Vedganga, Dudhganga and Hiranyakeshi are in spate again after causing havoc in several districts. GS Srinivas Reddy, director of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC), said that we have released more than two lakh cusecs of water from Narayanpur (dam) for the last three days.

On September 4, an orange alert was issued in Karnataka for rain. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, an Orange alert was issued for the next two days in Karnataka.
