Home Minister Amit Shah in action, Modi government in preparation for delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir

BJP President Amit Shah is seen in full operation as soon as the Home Ministry gets the charge. According to sources, the Home Ministry Amit Shah is considering the formation of a delimitation commission in Jammu and Kashmir. The last time in the province was delimited in 1995 when on the orders of Governor Jagmohan, 87 seats were formed in Jammu and Kashmir. There are a total of 111 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, but 24 seats have been kept vacant. According to Section 47 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, these 24 seats have been left empty for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and the elections are held on the remaining 87 seats. Explain that Jammu and Kashmir has a separate constitution too. According to the Constitution of the State, the constituencies should be delimited after every ten years. In this way, the delimitation of seats in Jammu and Kashmir was to be done in 2005, but the Farooq Abdullah government had banned it in 2002 for 2026. The Abdullah Government took this decision while making changes in Jammu and Kashmir’s Representation of the People Act, 1957 and the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talk that according to the census of 2011, the population of the Jammu division of the state is 53,78,538 and it is 42.89% of the province’s population. Area of 25.93 per cent of the city belongs to the Jammu division, and a total of 37 seats of the Vidhan Sabha are elected from here. On the other hand, the Kashmir Valley has a population of 68,88,475, and it is 54.93 per cent of the province. A total of 46 legislators are elected from here. Apart from this, there are four seats in Ladakh, and four legislators are elected from here for the assembly. According to sources, the central government is pushing for such a situation so that the new system of reservations for SC and ST communities can be implemented. There is no reservation on any seat in the Valley, but there is 11 percent of the Gujjar Bakarwal and Gaddi tribe community population. In the Jammu division, there are seven seats reserved for SC, and they have not even rotated. Because of this, there is a possibility of an impact on social equations with renewed delays. – Source EMS
