The Indian women’s U-17 football team will participate in the three-nation international tournament against Thailand and Sweden here from December 13 to prepare for the next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has claimed that it will be the first international tournament of this age group held in the country. The tournament is being organized under the aegis of Uefa Assist and the Asian Football Federation. Uefa Assist is the international program of the governing body of European football with a focus on the need for national associations and federations outside the continent.

The AIFF said, “With the preparations for the 2020 FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup going on loudly, Mumbai Football Arena will host the Under-17 Women’s Football Tournament 2019 which is the first international tournament of its kind for girls. India will play it from Sweden and Thailand, both of which are big teams of women’s football globally. In this case, AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said that through this tournament, Indian girls will get a chance to play against level rivals. Indian team coach Thomas Denerby believes the team will benefit greatly from this tournament.
