In view of the increasing incidents of crime against women, the Narendra Modi government of the Center has taken a big decision. Women desks will be set up in all police stations across the country. The Home Ministry has allocated Rs 100 crore from the Nirbhaya Fund for these police stations. The scheme will be implemented in all states and union territories. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned a plan of Rs. 100 crores from the Nirbhaya Fund for this while approving the plan to create women help desks in police stations. It has been decided to create a Women’s Help Desk to make police stations women friendly and accessible. This will enable any woman to complain at the police station at the women’s desk. Women police officers will be compulsorily posted at this desk.
