On the question raised about the expenditure on foreign tours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister of the country, Amit Shah said that Modi also tries to cut expenses in some way during his foreign travels. In the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Modi chooses to rest or bathe at the airport terminals instead of spending the night in a five-star hotel during foreign trips. Shah said, ‘In his personal and public life, PM Modi has followed a very disciplined system. For example, whenever PM Modi goes abroad, he takes less than 20% of his staff with him. Responding to the SPG Amendment Bill 2019, Shah said that the Gandhi family violated the SPG safety norms several times, whereas for the last 20 years, since PM Modi has got security, he has not violated it once. Shah said that during the last five years, Rahul Gandhi did not inform the SPG for 247 tours outside Delhi. On compromising the highest security provided by the government, Shah revealed that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi went on 99 foreign trips since 1991, not seeking protection of the SPG on 78 such trips. Similarly, he has violated SPG standards since 2015 on 349 occasions. On Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, the Home Minister said that the party supremo had not informed SPG officials about her visit 600 times. At the same time, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi raised the question that PM Modi violated SPG Blue Book during the ride of seaplane in Gujarat in 2017. So Amit Shah justifying it said that the SPG had checked the seaplan well and the SPG personnel were also deployed inside the seaplane. He said that the aim was to promote tourism in Gujarat. This was not a ride for personal fun.
