Fawad Chaudhary, science and technology minister of Pakistan, has targeted the religious leaders who try to isolate science from religion, saying that when it is a matter of showing the moon to decide the date of Eid-ul-Fitr, Should be used. Chaudhary, a close aide of Prime Minister Imran Khan, has vexed Muslim religious leaders for not continuing the conventional methods used by Ruity-e-Hilal to end the dispute over the moon sighting during all important Islamic festivals.
So far, the Ruity-e-Hilal Committee has been deciding when Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan. Chaudhary had last month announced that the Pakistan government will celebrate the Eid on June 5 while the Eid in Saudi Arabia is being celebrated on Tuesday.
The National Assembly was informed last month that Pakistan spent three million rupees for the moon sighting in 2018 for Muharram, Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Zuha. sources-EMS
