The Philippines police and immigration authorities have arrested 500 illegal foreigners. Most of those arrested are citizens of China. They are involved in telecommunications and investment scams. This is the biggest incident of mass arrests this year. Immigration Commissioner Gem Morente and other officials say 542 foreigners, arrested on Wednesday night in a raid on their company’s premises in Metropolitan Manila, they did not have work permits, they blackmailing most Chinese people for money or were deceived. Police Major General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said China provided information on which more than 400 Chinese and other employees from Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia were arrested. The suspects are being interrogated.
