Sharad Pawar claims - Modi offered him to work together, I turned down

After the formation of a coalition government with the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress in Maharashtra, new farce is coming up, in which the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has made a big claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made him work together ‘But he turned down the offer. Pawar claimed this in an interview to a Marathi TV channel on Monday. Pawar said, ‘Modi offered me to work together. I told them that our personal relations are very good and they will always be there but it is not possible for me to work together. Pawar dismissed such reports that the Modi government proposed to make him the President of the country. He said, “But there was a proposal in the Modi-led cabinet to make Supriya Sule a minister.” Supriya Sule is Pawar’s daughter and a Lok Sabha member from Baramati in Pune district.

Pawar met Modi last month amidst the ongoing development of government formation in Maharashtra. Modi has praised Pawar on several occasions. Recently, Modi had said that all parties should learn from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) about how parliamentary rules are followed. Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always praised Sharad Pawar. Even during the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the PM always took care not to take an attacking stand against Pawar. The PM, who arrived at Pawar’s invitation at the Vasantdada Sugar Institute in Pune in 2016, praised the NCP chief as an example in public life. At that time the PM had said, ‘I have reverence for Sharad Pawar. I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time. They have helped me walk by holding my finger. I feel proud to share this publicly. ‘ Sharad also said that not swearing Ajit in the Uddhav-led government was a ‘thought-out’. Ajit had earlier made Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister by supporting the BJP suddenly and himself became the Deputy Chief Minister. However, Ajit resigned only three days later, after which Fadnavis also had to leave. After this, Shiv Sena formed the government in the state with the support of NCP and Congress.
