Governor Bandaru Dattatreya has emphasized the need for social, economic and technological improvement of the nation, for which it is necessary to equip the youth with modern technical education and skills.The Governor was speaking while presiding over the scholarship distribution ceremony organized by the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam here today. Scholarships were awarded to 87 meritorious students under the ‘SJVN Silver Jubilee Scholarship Scheme’ to the meritorious students of class XII of 2018-19 academic session conducted in the state by the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam under CSR initiative. Additionally, the remaining 63 scholarships for the year 2019 will be provided by Uttarakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra and Gujarat offices of SJVN.

On this occasion, the Governor said that SJVN is not only a very prestigious institution in the energy sector, but is also working selflessly for the society. He called upon the students to move towards higher education with skill development. He encouraged the students to develop scientific thinking and focus on character building. Emphasizing modern thinking along with the promotion of cultural values and historical heritage, Shri Dattatreya said that India has a worldwide name in computer, science and digitization and now there is a need to work in the field of medicine and agriculture. He expressed happiness that apart from the field of education, SJVN is also playing an important role in skill development of local students, farmers and others.
