The Delhi Police has arrested the woman who claims to be the legally married wife of JDU Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Prasad. The woman was arrested after Prasad’s wife alleged in the complaint that he had taken her jewelery and was not returning them despite repeated requests. The report said the woman was interrogated on October 9 and was subsequently arrested at The Leela Hotel where she was staying following the court’s instruction.The court had directed him to abstain from Prasad for four weeks. It also states that to prevent the woman from traveling abroad, a letter has been written to the Foreign Regional Registration Office here, so that she can issue a lookout circular. The report also said that the woman’s passport has been deposited in the High Court registry. During the hearing, the woman’s lawyers told the court that they had requested the police in writing to let her meet Prasad, but the request was not entertained.
The High Court directed the arrested woman to stay away from Prasad on a habeas corpus petition.
The arrested woman’s lawyers also said that Prasad’s son, who had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court alleging that his mother was illegally detained by another woman, is a malaise-driven person and has sneaked intothe member MP’s residence.The High Court directed the arrested woman to stay away from Prasad on a habeas corpus petition. Lawyers for this woman also told the court that Prasad had evicted his son. At the same time, the son’s lawyers rejected these allegations and said that he had gone to the MP’s residence with his mother as per his wish. The court, however, did not agree and said that he (son) could meet his mother for a full day, but he could not stay there in the premises. The bench told the arrested woman’s lawyers that they could raise a complaint about the eviction of the son in a separate application and then the relevant orders would be issued.
The crime branch of the Delhi Police, probing the case of the alleged wrongful confinement of Prasad’s legally estranged wife by another woman, informed the bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal.
Rahul Mehra, the permanent lawyer (crime) of the Delhi government, appearing for the crime branch, told the court that the woman, who claimed to be Prasad’s wife, has been arrested and sent to police custody for two days.
